I must be one of the unlucky JRSC customers, 3mons after i got the SC on, i heard some funny noise, so i did a leak down test, and sure enough my 3 piston was at 23% leak. then after i took the pistons out, woo hoo, the piston crack in between the rings. if i remember correctly i did my timing to about 8-9 degree. anyhow, now that i built the motor again, i am running 10-12 psi of boost. i just finished breaking in my engine, drove it 2000 miles barely touching the throddle, oh man, that feeling sucks. anyways, now that i broken in the car, the car will boost to about 11psi, then at 6000rpm, i get ZERO boost. i guess the belts r slipping. then i checked the belts, it seems fairly tight. so i called jackson racing about it, then they said "well the supercharge is not design to go that much boost". so i said "but at ur website, u mention that the supercharge will handle upto 13psi of boost. btw its a 97GSR. now i am given a few option, have a machine shop makes a wider pulley.....but as u all know, there is barely any room left in the engine. option 2, put the 6psi pulley back in?? no way. Option 3, take the SC out and put a turbo in. so if anyone has any remedies for the belt slipping. any help would be highly appreciated.

any one will tell u that this set up will easily take u to low 12s and even 11s. all i want is to hold the boost to 11psi or so. so anyone got any suggestion?

Pinging sounds like "marbles in your motor"... usually happens when there is a load on your engine (up hills) when you are below 4000rpm. You'll hear it on hot days and when trying to climb Pikes Peak... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif

I called Jackson because I haven't gotten my rebate yet, apparently the woman who does them was on vacation for a couple weeks, but the guy I spoke with was cool and siad it would be out soon... I'm going to call monday and see what the scoop is. So, stay on top of them.

Welcome to the dark side. I've been a member for a couple months, and here's what I have learned.

1. Use Mobil 1.
2. Use Redline gear lube. I'm not Mr. Goodwrench, and not a scientist either, but the stuff WORKS (use the yellow bottle).
3. Watch the belt tension. My SC belt fell off and shredded in the rain the other day... SUCKS to fix.
4. Warm up the car to just below half way on the temp gauge before flooring it (and don't go over 3000 rpm's.)
5. Save some cash for the Jackson Black Box!!

Make sure the noise your hearing isn't just the JR relay / pressure switch combo. It can make noises that sound like faint detonation. As soon as I removed mine a slight noise I was hearing went with it.

I retarded the timing by two degrees all the way to 4 degrees..the stupid Brrrrr still there. Anyways, took timing that far down and the sound still persisted gave me an impression that it was not the engine's ping. Anyhow, I went back to JEA anyways for a quick check out. I luckily ran into Joel (the mechanic who installed my JRSC...very nice guy) agreed to sit in and let me drive around while he listened for the pings...He concluded it was not detonation. Anyhow, he asked me to pull into the service bay, and readjusted the timing back for me (12 degrees). The car is a LOT more responsive at 12 deg. He also did a quick scan for the source of that sound (brrr)...he lifted it up, wiggled around. We came to a conclusion that it is probably something external that vibrates (something right under the firewall or behind the instrument cluster). Well I don't really care for what the heck that was...just happy that it's not detonation http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Well Joel K. at JEA is extremely friendly and is a great mechanic. He did a super job on my JRSC. I'm usually extremely picky about "getting the job done right" but I have no complaint. If you are going to get yours installed, I highly recommend Joel.

On my way home today, I remembered all the commotion about the hang out at Miami sub (westheimer and wilcrest). I decided to drop by and take a look. I've never came out before...Wow..a tons of people were...but only a few imports. I guess I came a little early (11:30). I only stayed for 5 mins...perhaps more will show up later?

You're right. It is probably the relay/pressure switch...That's what JR tech said too. cpa, yeah, it could be the fuel running through or the valve/relay switch. I never know what the sound of pinging is like so I got a little paranoid there http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

But anyhow, I'd like to know how to install a small led that would light up whenever pinging occurs..like tapping into a knock sensor wire or something. Anyone has any hints/comments on this???

Random:
Pull the wire from the JR pressure switch. This will lock the fuel enrichment relay in. Go for a test ride to see if the (relay) noise is gone.
The pressure switch always makes the relay chatter when near 1 psi of boost.
